NOTICE TO PARENTS

 

The following are important calendar dates for your information.

 

A.    FINAL WEEKS OF 2007-2008 SCHOOL YEAR

 

THURSDAY, MAY 8        -  High School Scholarship Recognition 7:00 p.m. - Herrin Civic Center

 

SUNDAY, MAY 11           -  Herrin High School Baccalaureate at 7:00 p.m.

                                                First Baptist Church - sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance

 

      THURSDAY, MAY 15      -  One-hour early dismissal K-8,  High School - 2:08 p.m. dismissal

 

SATURDAY, MAY 17      -  High School Graduation at 5:00 p.m. - Herrin High School

 

TUESDAY, MAY 20          -  Eighth Grade Promotion & Honors 1:00 p.m. - Herrin Middle School

 

MONDAY, MAY 26          -  Memorial Day, a non-attendance day

 

THURSDAY, MAY 29      -  Teacher Institute Day, a non-attendance day      

 

FRIDAY, MAY 30             -  Last day of school with early dismissal at 10:00 a.m.

 

B.     PRE-REGISTRATION SCHEDULE FOR 2008-2009

Parents are reminded that all students should register from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as follows:

Herrin Elementary                      Grades 2-5                                                August 7

North Side Primary Center        Kindergarten/First Grade        August 8              

 

Please call the school if you are not able to register on the assigned day.

 

C.     NOTICE:  PARENTS OF STUDENTS ENTERING SCHOOL FOR THE FIRST TIME, KINDERGARTEN OR NINTH GRADES IN AUGUST 2008

Health examinations are required for students entering school for the first time or entering kindergarten or ninth grade.  All required immunizations must be completed or scheduled with the doctor before the child will be allowed to begin school next fall.  These should be completed as soon as possible to avoid last minute scheduling problems.  Doctors will have the necessary forms.

 

D.  Dental Exam:  An Illinois Law states that all children entering kindergarten, second, and sixth grades for the 2008-2009 school year must have a dental examination before May 15 of the school year.  Each of these children must present proof of having been examined by a dentist prior to May 15, 2009.

 

E.   OPENING OF SCHOOL: 2008-2009:

The first attendance day for students for the 2008-2009 school year will be on Tuesday,

August 19, 2008.
